Berlin, Year-Round
Berlin is a great place to visit, year round! On this page, you can see what are the main attractions
- February - the Berlinale film festival. One of the most important in the world.
- March - ITB - the largest tourism exhibition in the world. If you're an agent or a company visiting the fair and you would like to meet us, drop us a line
- Carnival of Cultures - Karnival der Kulturen (with updated information for the 2008 festival!)
- Christopher Street Day (June) - The old Berlin tradition of celebration in the disguise of demonstration might have started here: a colourful gay rights parade, lots of parties and street fairs.
- August - Hanf Parade - legalisation demonstration which takes the form of a festive parade; might be cancelled.
- The Berlin Marathon - one of the largest, and most beautiful, marathons in the world, including a skaters and a wheelchair users' routes. Ask us about a "Sports in Berlin" customised tour.
- Also in September - the Popkomm festival, which combines business (the music one, that is) with pleasure (concerts and parties)
- Oktoberfest - First thing you have to know about Oktoberfest is that it takes place mostly in September; the other thing, is that it is mostly a Munich/Bavarian event. So why do we post it here? Berliners would not miss on an opportunity to party and drink beer, even if it comes from Bavaria. There are several tents and fests in the city; and many restaurants serve Bavarian Oktoberfest style food. We can integrate (almost) any of our tours with a visit to a Berliner Oktoberfest event
- Art Forum Berlin (October/November) - large art festival, in galleries all over town. Please drop us a note if you want a Galleries Tour
- JazzFest (November) - a large Jazz festival, part of the Berliner Festspiele initiative.
- The Holiday Season and Christmas Markets in Berlin
- Silvester - that's German for New Year's Eve! - The BIG party (and in big, we mean HUGE) is at the Brandenburg Gate. The Berliners themselves mostly go to parties, and of course, praising the Lord and passing their amunition (fireworks all over the place)
